Camden County (New Jersey)

The Camden County is a county New Jersey in the U.S.. In the census in 2010, the County had 513 657 inhabitants and a population density of 885.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Camden City.

The Camden County is part of the Delaware Valley metropolitan area called the City of Philadelphia.

Geography

The County is located in southern New Jersey and is separated from the city of Philadelphia in the west bordering the state of Pennsylvania by the Delaware River. It has an area of 589 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water surface. At the Camden County borders the following counties:

History

The Camden County was formed on March 13, 1844 former parts of Gloucester County. It was named (1714-1794), 1766-1770 Lord Chancellor of England after Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden.
