Camden is a city in Knox County in the U.S. state of Maine. One can find middle coastal strip in the center of Maine. Camden is located at the foot of surrounding mountains at a small harbor. North of town is Camden Hills State Park. The city is located on U.S. Route 1, which also forms the main road through the town.

In the year 2010 4.850 inhabitants were counted in Camden. The urban area covers 66.8 km ², of which 47.4 km ² with land and 19.5 km ² water surface are.

Camden was, at that time written Cambden, 1791 incorporated as the city of the Knox County. After the urban area enlarged in subsequent years, it was divided in 1893; from this the present Camden and south to Rockport emerged.

  • The Community School in Camden is the oldest state- recognized, independent and alternative high school in Maine.
  • A selected area of Camden (9,8 km ² of land area) acts as a so-called census-designated place (CDP). This means that this area is used by the United States Census Bureau for statistical reports on the census.
