Cameron Mackintosh

Cameron Mackintosh ( born October 17, 1946 in Enfield, London ) is a British theater producer and musical producer.

Life and career

Cameron Mackintosh is the son of a Scottish father and a Maltese mother. He attended the Prior Park College in Bath. His career in the theater began Mackintosh as a stage hand at theaters of the West End, and later toured as a Stage Manager.

Mackintosh was named by the New York Times as " the most successful, most influential and most powerful theatrical producer in the world ". 1996 was knighted for his achievements in musical theater Cameron Mackintosh by Queen Elizabeth II. In the Sunday Times Rich List of 2011 Mackintosh was estimated at a personal fortune of 675 million pounds, which makes him the third richest person in the British music industry. Cameron Mackintosh also now owns seven theaters in London: The Prince Edward, the Prince of Wales, Novello, Queen 's, Gielgud, Wyndham 's and Noel Coward.

Work

After early touring productions by English provincial theaters and productions such as Anything Goes, Side By Side By Sondheim, The Card, My Fair Lady, and Tom Foolery Cameron Mackintosh managed the 1981 international breakthrough as a theater producer in the world success Cats. Cats held the record as long played musical in London's West End for many years and had a similar success on Broadway in New York City.

This success was only superseded by the musical Les Misérables production, also a production of Cameron Macktintosh.

Mackintosh produced another successful musicals such as Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins, Oliver!, Five Guys Named Moe and Martin Guerre.

In addition, Mackintosh was in the nineties responsible for the revival of Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady and Carousel at the National Theatre in London. Among his less successful productions included Moby Dick and a stage adaptation of John Updike's The Witches of Eastwick. 1995 Mackintosh produced a concert of Les Misérables in London to its ten years of existence.

Cameron Mackintosh is part of the production team of the film Les Misérables and was nominated in 2013 for this purpose for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
