Cameroon clawless otter

The small claws or Congo - finger Otter ( Aonyx capensis congicus ) is a common in middle Africa carnivore species of the subfamily of the Otter ( Lutrinae ). The status is unclear and it is also regarded as a separate species Aonyx congicus.

Features

The small- clawed otter finger is slightly smaller than the nominate of Kapotters (A. capensis capensis ). The females are slightly smaller than males. The body reaches a head-body length of about 85 centimeters, the tail of the male is about 50 inches long. The body color is brown, the lower half of history with the upper lips and the face sides of the neck, the throat and belly are gray - white. On the upper and lower jaw are white sensory hairs ( vibrissae ), the eyes and ears are small.

Distribution and habitat

The small- clawed otter finger is spread over the central Africa in the area of the rainforest in the Congo Basin. Its circulation area covers Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo and southern Cameroon, Central African Republic, northern Angola and parts of Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.
