Camí de Ronda

The Cami de Ronda (Spanish: Camino de Ronda ) is a coastal path on the Costa Brava in Spain and connects the towns of Catalonia Portbou south of the French border and Blanes. He is part of the Spanish long-distance hiking trail GR -92 (Spanish: Gran Recorrido 92, Catalan: Gran Recorregut 92) and has a length of nearly 200 km.

History

The coastal paths along the Mediterranean coast fishermen used centuries ago to reach bays and neighboring towns by land. From the mid 19th century, this coastal paths of the Spanish Guardia Civil served as the control path, to look for smugglers lookout and to prevent their activities. Middle of the 20th century lost this way in importance, but experienced by the onset of the Costa Brava tourism in the 1960s a new boom.

Route

The Cami de Ronda south begins the French border in Portbou, through the Natural Park of Cap de Creus with the towns of El Port de la Selva, Cadaqués until Roses, continues to l' Escala, Torroella de Montgri, Begur, Palamos, Sant Feliu de Guixols, Tossa de Mar and ends in Blanes.
