Camilla Martin

Camilla Martin Nygaard ( born March 23, 1974 in Aarhus ) is a former Danish badminton player.

She won in the years 1991 to 2003 thirteen times the Danish championship in women's singles. In addition, it was in the years 1992, 1996 and 1998 European champion in this discipline. Her two biggest successes were winning the World Championship title in the women's singles in 1999 and the silver medal at the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000. In the finals at the Olympics she defeated the Chinese Gong Zhichao. She was voted Denmark's Sportswoman of the Year in 1999, and since 2013 she is a member of the Sportens Hall of Fame.

Camilla Martin ended her athletic career in 2004 after she was eliminated at the Summer Olympic Games in Athens in the round of sixteen.

On 25 May 2005 she married the economist Lars Nygaard and changed its name to Camilla Martin Nygaard.
