Camille Chevillard

Paul Alexandre Camille Chevillard ( born October 14, 1859 in Paris, † May 30 1923 in Chatou ) was a French composer and conductor.

The son of the cellist Pierre Alexandre Chevillard studied piano at the Paris Conservatory. In 1895 he founded the Trio Chevillard - Hayot - Salmon. In 1887 he assisted Charles Lamoureux at the premiere of Lohengrin in Paris. From 1897 he represented Lamoureux often as head of the Concerts Lamoureux, after his death in 1899 he succeeded him as head of the concerts. He has conducted, among others the first performance of Claude Debussy's Nocturnes (1900 and 1901 ) and La mer (1905 ).

Chevillard composed chamber music and symphonic works, a spectacle of music and songs.
