Camorino is a municipality in the district of the river Morobbia Giubiasco in Bellinzona district in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. The municipality consists of the fractions Scarsetti, Margnetti, Arla, Come Lina, Camorino, cancellations and Monti.

Neighboring municipalities are isone, Sant'Antonino, Giubiasco and Pianezzo.

History

Camorino was first mentioned in 1237 in connection with goods of Chapter San Pietro in Bellinzona. The parish church of San Martino dates from 1553 and was fully renovated in 1888. The population remained constant over the centuries (1591 400, 1900 405, 1950 702 inhabitants) and only rose in the late 20th century (2000 2,210 inhabitants).

Economy

It was originally a farming village, mainly grown in the grapes and strawberries and cattle breeding. In addition, were craftsmen, a knitwear and pasta production as well as a mill.
