Campbell County (Tennessee)

Campbell County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Jacksboro.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern Tennessee, bordered to the north Kentucky and has an area of 1290 square kilometers, of which 47 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Whitley County (Kentucky), Claiborne County, Union County, Anderson County, Scott County and McCreary County ( Kentucky).

History

Campbell County was formed on September 11, 1806 from parts of Anderson County and Claiborne County. It was named after Arthur Campbell, a politician from Virginia.
