Campbell County (Tennessee)
Campbell County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Jacksboro.
Geography
The County is located in northeastern Tennessee, bordered to the north Kentucky and has an area of 1290 square kilometers, of which 47 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Whitley County (Kentucky), Claiborne County, Union County, Anderson County, Scott County and McCreary County ( Kentucky).

History
Campbell County was formed on September 11, 1806 from parts of Anderson County and Claiborne County. It was named after Arthur Campbell, a politician from Virginia.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Campbell County 39 854 people in 16,125 households and 11,577 families. The population density was 32 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 98.13 percent White, 0.30 percent African American, 0.31 percent Native American, 0.16 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander, and 0.16 percent from other races groups; 0.91 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.67 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 16,125 households out of which 29.8 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 55.3 percent were married couples living together, 12.6 percent were single mothers and 28.2 percent were non-families. 25.4 percent of all households and 11.6 percent lived in persons aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average household size was 2.91 people.
22.9 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.5 percent between 18 to 24, 28.0 percent between 25 and 44, 25.5 percent between 45 and 64, and 15.1 percent were older than 65, the average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 93.0 males statistically every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males.
The median income for a household was $ 25,285, and the median income for a family was $ 30,197. Males have a median income of $ 26,762, women $ 19,138. The per capita income was $ 13,301. 18.4 percent of families and 22.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
