Campillos

Campillos is a municipality of the comarca Guadalteba in the northeast of the Andalusian province of Malaga. Campillos 86 km from Málaga and 30 km from Antequera.

Main source of income of the inhabitants is agriculture, but there are leather and pig. Also Campillos has some educational institutions whose catchment area covers the surrounding villages such as Teba, Ardales, Sierra Yeguas and Almargen.

The town center is dominated by a mix of older mansions and modern buildings. The most prominent landmark is the parish church dedicated to the patron saint of the town of Nuestra Señora del Reposo, which built in 1506, but the late 18th and early 19th century has been greatly transformed. The chapels San Benito and San Sebastian are worth seeing. There are the remains of earlier settlements at the site, as well as Roman and Arab colonists.

The municipal area is largely covered by olive groves and grain fields. The seven lagoons of the community, even though they were covered a large part of the year dry, declared as nature reserves are used by many birds, including flamingos and storks.
