Five -year-old stallion Campolina

The Campolina is a Brazilian horse breed, which owes its name Cassiano Campolina, a farmer in Entre Rios de Minas, Minas Gerais.

Exterior

The Height of 150-160 cm. The coat colors predominate yellow-brown, brown, black and white, but it occur all coat colors.

Interior

An extremely friendly and very gentle horse that is also suitable for beginners. The horses are straightforward and strengthened in itself.

Breeding history

In 1870 received Cassiano Campolina, farmer 's plantation ( = farm) Tanque in Entre Rios, from a friend, a black Berber mare named Medea, which he crossed with an Andalusian stallion, was donated by Emperor Pedro II which its owner, Mariano Procópio.

The born from this cross colt was dark gray and was named Monarca. Monarca is considered on the grounds of the stallion Campolina race. He died in 1895. Breeds that were Anglo - Norman, Clydesdale, Holsteiner, American Saddle Horse and Mangalarga Marchador Campolina from this crossing into it bred in his herd of horses. The latter should refine the Campolina - breeding. Cassiano Campolina died 1909. Yet his horse breeding, which should lead to Campolina race, was of staff, including Joaquim Resende, by crosses with Criollo, Marchadors and finally refined with English Thoroughbreds on.

A studbook in 1934 was opened and set the breed standard. 1938 Campolina Horse Breeders Association was founded, which bears since 1951 and headquartered in Belo Horizonte, its present name, Associação Brasileira dos Criadores do Cavalo Campolina. In 1975 and 1993, the breed standards were renewed. Today, approximately 85,000 Campolina horses and just over 7,300 Campolina horse breeders are registered with the association.
