Camporotondo Etneo

Camporotondo Etneo is a town of the province of Catania on the Mediterranean island of Sicily with 4519 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Camporotondo Etneo is located 14 km northeast of Catania on the southern slopes of Mount Etna. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture.

The neighboring municipalities are Belper, Mister Bianco, Motta Santa Anastasia and San Pietro Clarenza.

History

Camporotondo Etneo emerges from eight small villages, Andrea Massa bought in 1645. In 1669 it was destroyed by an eruption of Mount Etna, and then rebuilt.
