Campos, Majorca

Campos is a municipality on the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca. The same small inland town is the administrative center of the municipality in the south of the island in the region ( comarca ) Migjorn.

The municipality of Campos had on 1 January 2013 with a population of 10,144 reported residents. These are 68 inhabitants per km ². In 2006, the foreigners in the community was 16.2 % ( 1,342 ), the proportion of German population 5.0% ( 416). Main economic factors are agriculture, livestock and dairy.

Geographical Location

The rather flat Campos located on the south coast of Majorca, on a stretch of coast that behind the long sandy beach extends from the resort of Sa Ràpita in the west to Arenes ses of Es Trenc in the southeast. The eponymous capital of the municipality is located about nine kilometers from the coast along the road from Palma to the resort areas on the east coast ( Cala d'Or, Cala Figuera ). The distance from Campos to Palma is about 35 kilometers.

Neighboring communities

In the east, the municipalities of Felanitx, Santanyi and Ses Salines bordering the municipality of Campos. They belong as well as the west adjoining municipality of Llucmajor and Campos also even to the region Migjorn. To the north borders the Pla de Mallorca region with the community Porreres to the area of Campos.
