Campynemataceae

The Campynemataceae are a plant family of the order of the lily -like ( Liliales ) with four species in two genera.

Description

The types of Campynemataceae are small, herbaceous plants, grows upright and hairless. They grow from a short rhizome ( Campynema ) or a tufted root collar ( Campynemanthe ). The linealischen or lance-shaped leaves are sessile, scheidig at the base, rich in needle-shaped calcium oxalate crystals ( raphides ) and dreigezähnt at the blade tip. Forming in a bottom permanent Campynemanthe tufts in Campynema is the foliage only of a single sheet of the base of the plant.

The flowers are individually or collectively in paniculate or scheindoldigen inflorescences with bracts ( bracts ).

The small, threefold, hermaphrodite flowers are radial symmetry. The six bracts are free and equal in shape. There are two circles, each with three fertile stamens present. The stamens are fused with the bloom cladding at the base. Three carpels are fused into one inferior ovary. In the genus Campynemanthe is a pen and of the genus Campynema three pen and the same number of scars are present.

Are formed capsule fruits that contain about 20 to 50 seeds. The seeds have a light red - brown color.

Distribution area

They have their areas only in New Caledonia ( Campynemanthe ) or Tasmania ( Campynema ).
