Canada Eastern Railway

The Canada Eastern Railway (CE) was a railway company in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. It was initially established in 1870 as Northern and Western Railway and built a railway line from South Devon at the Saint John River opposite the provincial capital Fredericton in the northeast up to the Intercolonial Railway. The connection with this web was made in Nelson. The track went in 1887 after three years of construction period and went into the valleys of the Nashwaak River and the Southwest Miramichi River. As the same time the Chatham Branch Railway was opened ( as of 1888 Chatham Railroad ), which was the extension of the Northern & Western as far as Chatham, called the node station Chatham Junction. 1889 a bridge across the St. John River was opened and extended the route to Fredericton.

1891 merged the Northern & Western with the Chatham Railroad to Canada Eastern Railway (CE). Shortly after the line was extended over Chatham addition, according Loggieville. 1904 acquired the Intercolonial Railway CE. The section from Blackville to Chatham Junction was decommissioned in 1912, when a new parallel link was opened on Quarryville. 1985 ended operation between McGivney and Blackville and between Chatham and Loggieville, 1995, the route Fredericton McGivney was shut down. Thus, the CE route only the short section of Nelson Junction (formerly Chatham Junction ) to Chatham in operation. He is now operated by the New Brunswick East Coast Railway.
