Candas

Candas ( Picard: L' Cando ) is a northern French village with 1062 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region in northwestern France. The municipality is part of the Communauté de communes du Bernavillois, in the canton Bernaville in the arrondissement of Amiens.

Geography

The expanded municipality is situated approximately 35 km north of Amiens and 7 km east-southeast of Bernaville at the intersection of department D31 and D49 roads. To Candas heard the far located in the southeast hamlet Le Val Heureux. In the extreme southeast of the community are two wind turbines, the (mostly in the municipality of Naours ) belong to the Parc de la Tourette eolien.

History

The place was under the rule of the Hospitallers in Fieffes.
