Cannero Riviera

Cannero Riviera is a town on Lake Maggiore with 1002 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Verbano -Cusio -Ossola on the edge of the Piedmont.

Geography

The place is built on the Schwemmlandkegel of the river Rio di Cannero. At the northern Lake Maggiore, and especially at its eastern shores such Schwemmlandkegel are virtually the only flat spots of the otherwise rocky shore. Cannero is oriented due south, thus has a particularly mild climate and therefore also known as the " Riviera" get.

Cannero Riviera are preceded by two islets, the Castelli di Cannero.

An unusual sight in the area is a painted stone whose painting can selfsame look like a giant cat. To find the artwork is directly on the lake promenade.
