Cannobio
Cannobio (not to be confused with Canobbio in Switzerland) is a municipality with 5003 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Verbano -Cusio -Ossola (VB ), Region Piedmont. The municipality is located on the western shore of Lake Maggiore and is the first major town on the border with Switzerland in Piaggio Valmara. Cannobio is located on the alluvial fan of the river Cannobino, in the hinterland of the Valle Cannobina expands.
The city name comes from the Roman Canobinum.
