Canons Regular of the Immaculate Conception
The Augustinian Canons Regular of the Immaculate Conception (Latin: Congregation Canonicorum Regularium Immaculatae Conceptionis, religious symbol: CRIC ) as " Regulated Canons Regular of the Immaculate Conception " is known, are a congregation of priests and religious brothers in the Roman Catholic Church.
History
The foundation of the religious community goes back to the French priest Gréa Adrien ( 1828-1917 ). He founded in Saint- Claude ( France) together with two other canons the first community. The founding members had in 1866 their eternal vows and received by the Popes Pius IX. and Leo XIII. the first approvals. The Decretum Laudis was 1876. February 11, 1913, the Congregation received the final papal approbation by Pope Pius X. The first mother house was built in 1890 in Saint -Claude, 1890, it was moved to Saint -Antoine L'Abbaye. Here it remained until 1903, due to the French law of 1901, the members were expelled and moved their headquarters in the province of Genoa (Italy). 1922, the current General House in Rome was built.
The expansion
The small community developed into an international Congregation, 1891 settled the first canons to Canada in 1905, it established a mission station in Peru, since 1932 they had a delegation in England. The members took over educational tasks and provided for the education of young people.
Presence
The Augustinian Canons Regular of the Immaculate Conception have delegations in Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, France, Italy and Peru. 'll Take you about 23 parishes and institutions.
