Canso d'Antioca

The Canso d' Antioch ( not to be confused with the later French Chanson d' Antioch ) is an Occitan crusade epic, which probably originated around 1130. The authorship is Béchada Grégoire, a knight from the wake of Golfier de Las gate in the Limousin attributed.

From the Canso only fragments survive. The only coherent and comprehensive at the same time consists of 700 verses and is located in Madrid. The text tells of the battle of Antioch between Saracens and Christians in 1098 during the First Crusade.
