Cantello
Cantello ( until 1895 Cazzone ) is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4554 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Varese, in the Lombardy region. The community is located about 5 kilometers east of Varese on Rio Ranza and directly borders Switzerland and the Province of Como.
History
From ancient Roman times a Jupiter altar is still preserved. The church of Santa Maria in Campagna with its Campanile is located on the foundations of the late 11th century. 1976, the district was Velmaio ausgemeindet and the neighboring municipality slammed Arcisate.
