Canton is a town in Hartford County in the U.S. state of Connecticut, United States, with 9,200 inhabitants ( 2004). The metropolitan area has a size of 64.9 km ².

Canton was mentioned for the first time in 1737 as a settlement. In 1806 it became the city. Canton has access to U.S. Routes 44 and 202 and is about 22 km west of Hartford.
