Canton of Chemillé

The Canton Chemillé is a French administrative unit in the Arrondissement Cholet in the department of Maine -et- Loire in the Pays de la Loire; its chief town is Chemillé, Representative to the General Council of the department since 2001, re-elected in 2008, Michel Mignard.

Geography

The canton is 219.38 km ² and had (2006) 15,749 inhabitants, which corresponds to a population density of 72 inhabitants per km ². He is on average 112 meters above sea level, between 20 m and 217 m in La Jumellière in Saint -Georges -des- Gardes.

The canton consists of nine municipalities:

On 1 January 2013, the former municipality Melay (1608 inhabitants, as of 31 December 2010) was incorporated into the town to the church Chemillé Chemillé- Melay.
