Canton of Parthenay

The Canton of Parthenay is a French administrative unit in the arrondissement of Parthenay in Deux-Sevres and the Poitou-Charentes region; its chief town is Parthenay. Representatives of the General Council of the department since 1998 Gilbert Favreau ( first DVD, now UMP).

Geography

The Canton of Parthenay is 18,639 acres ( 186.39 km ²) in size and has (1999) 20,270 inhabitants, which corresponds to a population density of 109 inhabitants per km ². He is on average 173 meters above sea level, between 114 meters and 254 meters in Parthenay in La Chapelle- Bertrand.
