Cantons of Bolivia

One canton (Spanish cantón ) was in Bolivia until 2009 an administrative unit of the fifth order, according to State Department, province and municipality. On the administrative maps of the municipios the boundary lines of the individual cantons are still reported, and newer sources have cantons as an administrative unit continues, even if officially the State was abolished as an administrative level.

Each Cantón was divided on the sixth level of administration in a different number of Vicecantones (sub cantons). Each Cantón and Vicecantón each stand before a corregidor ( magistrate ). The lowest and seventh level, the individual Localidades ( towns).
