Canute II of Sweden

Knut II, Knut Holmgersson Långe till Sko, ( † around 1234) was from 1229 to 1234 King of Sweden.

We know very little about him. His life data are not known. You also do not know if he has been crowned.

Knut's father's name was probably Holmger and was a cousin Knut Eriksson. When the immature six year old Erik XI. was elected in 1222 to the king, Knut was one of the council members, who initiated Sweden instead. 1229 Knut allied with the family of the Folkunger, which led to the Battle of Olustra ( Ostra, a place in Södermanland on the southern shore of Lake Mälaren? ) And the dismissal of the now three year old king Erik. After Knut was, until his death in 1234 king.

He let mint coins in his own name. He appointed his son Karl döves Ulv fasi to Jarl. This also had its own mint money.

From his marriage (presumably with Helena Pedersdotter Strange ) went forth the sons Holmger and Filipp who were later executed by Birger Jarl.
