Cap R. Carden

Cap Robert Carden ( born December 17, 1866 in Munfordville, Hart County, Kentucky, † June 13, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1931 and 1935 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Cap Carden attended the public schools of his home and then the Bowling Green Business and Normal School. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in Munfordville in this profession. He also worked in the banking industry and in agriculture. Between 1887 and 1890 he was sheriff in Hart County. Between 1891 and 1894 he served as district attorney in this county; in the years 1900 to 1915, he worked for the local district court.

Politically Carden was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1930 he was in the fourth electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Republican John D. Craddock on March 4, 1931. After two re- elections he could remain until his death on 13 June 1935 at the Congress. At this time there many New Deal laws were passed since the inauguration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933. In addition, in 1933 the 20th and the 21st Amendment to the Constitution were ratified.
