Capaci

Capaci is a municipality in the province of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, with 11,043 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Capaci is 20 km west of Palermo directly on the Tyrrhenian Sea. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture or live from tourism.

The neighboring municipalities are Carini, Isola delle Femmine and Torretta.

History

The town was founded in 1241.

On 23 May 1992 on the 29 freeway at Capaci the lawyer Giovanni Falcone killed by a bomb.

Attractions

The parish church dates from the 18th century.
