Cape Alexander, Greenland

Geographical location

The Cape Alexander ( Greenlandic Ullersuaq ) is the westernmost point in Greenland.

It lies at the western end of the Hayes Peninsula in the Qaasuitsup Press Office, about 250 km north- west of the town of Qaanaaq. 18.6 km north ( straight line ) of the Cape was with Etah to 1950 the northernmost settlement in the world natural. In the hinterland of the Cape of Dodge and Storm glaciers reach the coast.

The Cape Alexander is the opposite Cape Isabella on the Canadian Ellesmere Island receipt of Baffin Bay in the Smith Sound, which is 48 km wide at the narrowest point here. The cape was named in 1818 by John Ross after his two ships.
