Cape Breton Oilers

History

The Cape Breton Oilers were founded in 1988 as a new farm team of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League. They were the successors of the Nova Scotia Oilers. The team took both a similar logo, and jersey design of Edmonton. The greatest success of the team was winning the Calder Cup in season 1992 /93. In the playoffs, the Oilers player Bill McDougall reached a record in professional hockey with 52 points in 16 games ( including 26 goals).

In 1996, the team was relocated after eight years in the AHL Hamilton in the Province of Ontario and renamed Hamilton Bulldogs.
