Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 1
Cape Canaveral AFS Launch Complex 1 (LC -1) is a disused start ramp of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Merritt Iceland, Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. It was used 1955-1960 for 67 start to the development and test of the Snark cruise missile.
History
Originally, the launch pad was built together with LC-2, LC -3 and LC - 4 for the testing program of the Snark cruise missile. The first launch took place on 13 January 1955. The launch complex was used until December 5, 1960 for cruise missiles.
Later it was used as a heliport during the Mercury program. Finally, the starting place in the 1980s was used for the start of aerostat radar balloons.
