Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 14

Cape Canaveral AFS Launch Complex 14 (LC -14) is a disused start ramp of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Merritt Iceland, Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. It was 1957-1966, used for a total of 32 starts an Atlas rocket, including all manned orbital flights in the Mercury program. 1984 LC 14 declared a National Historic Landmark.

History

In the 1950s, the Launch Complex 14 was to test the ballistic Atlas rocket built. After selecting the Atlas rocket as a carrier of the manned Gemini orbital flights all Mercury Atlas flights were launched from this platform. The ballistic flight of the Redstone rocket took place from Launch Complex 5. After completion of the Mercury program, the launch platform was rebuilt and it started from here all the Agena target levels during the Gemini program.

The last launch of a rocket from Launch Complex 14 took place with the docking adapter for the Gemini 12 mission on 11 November 1966.

After the last race began, funded by the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, to corrode the equipment and to fall apart. In the 1970s, the launch platform was dismantled for safety reasons.
