Cape Canaveral is a city in Brevard County in the U.S. state of Florida with 9,912 inhabitants ( 2010).
Geography
The city of Cape Canaveral on the south by Cocoa Beach and is located on the northern tip of the barrier islands on the Atlantic coast. It lies to the south located on the island of Iceland Merritt Space Stations Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Kennedy Space Center. The town is located about 30 km southeast of Titusville and about 80 km east of Orlando.
Demographics
According to the 2010 census, the then 9,912 inhabitants distributed to 8,295 households. The population density was 1,652 inh. / Km ². 92.9 % of the population were white, 2.4% African American, 0.3% Native American and 1.8 % Asian Americans. 0.8 % were members of other ethnic groups and 1.7% in different ethnic groups. 5.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 33.6 % of all households lived in 11.9 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 43.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.46 persons and the average family size is 2.39 people.
11.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.5% were 20-39 years old, 33.6 % were 40-59 years old and 34.5 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 51 years. 51.9 % of the population were male and 48.1% female.
The average annual income was $ 43,888, while 14.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.20 % of the population spoke Spanish 4.30% and 1.50 % had a different mother tongue.

Traffic
Cape Canaveral is crossed by the Florida State Road A1A. The nearest airport is Melbourne International Airport ( about 40 km). The city has an important port with Port Canaveral for cruise ships that accommodate their passengers here for cruises to the Caribbean.
