Cape Filchner

The Cape Filchner is a covered ice cape on the Davissee, about 27 km ( 17 miles ) west-northwest ( WNW ) from Adams Iceland in Antarctica. This cape is located between Kaiser Wilhelm II Land and Queen Maryland. It was discovered as part of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) led by Sir Douglas Mawson, who named it after Wilhelm Filchner, leader of the Second German Antarctic Expedition (1911-1912) and co-discoverer of the Filchner -Ronne Ice Shelf.
