Cape San Pío

The Cabo San Pío ( German: St. Pius Cape ) is the southernmost point of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, the main island of Tierra del Fuego islands. After the small island Islote Blanco, which is approximately one and a half kilometers to the southwest, is the Cape also the southernmost point of Argentina dar.

Cabo San Pío lies at the eastern end of the Beagle Channel and has an eight-meter high lighthouse Faro Cabo San Pío from the year 1919. The red and white striped brick tower has an external staircase and is shaped like a cone-shaped figure. Characteristic are its two light beams every 16 seconds. The range is 17 km.
