Cape Town Book Fair

The Cape Town Book Fair (English Cape Town Book Fair, shortly CTBF ) is a Book Fair in South Africa. It is a joint venture between the South African Publishers Association PASA and the Frankfurt Book Fair.

The first book fair was held to 20 June 2006 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre Cape Town 17. Under the slogan "Celebrate Africa" ​​was the main concern to present books in African languages ​​. There were exhibitors from over 20 countries.

In 2007 350 exhibitors came from 25 countries. In subsequent years, the number of exhibitors fell sharply to 293 exhibitors ( 2008), 274 exhibitors ( 2009) and 273 exhibitors ( 2010). During the same period the number of visitors fell from almost 50,000 to about 33,500 back.

2009, the former Head Vanessa Badroodien was replaced, their posts took over temporarily Claudia Kaiser of the Frankfurt Book Fair.

The envisaged for 2011 Cape Town Book Fair was canceled. Instead, the exhibition was to be held in 2012 only every two years and in a modified form.
