Cape Verdean parliamentary election, 2006

The parliamentary elections in Cape Verde in 2006 took place on 22 January 2006. It was the fourth election since the introduction of multiparty system in Cape Verde in 1990.

For the 72 seats of the Cape Verdean parliament as a candidate five parties, the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde, the Movement for Democracy, the party of democratic renewal and the Social Democratic Party.

Result

Voter turnout was 54.2 %.

After winning an absolute majority by the PAICV in this election their candidate and incumbent was confirmed in the first round since 2001, Pedro Pires at the following presidential elections in February 2006.
