Capilla de la Caridad del Hospital Maciel, Montevideo

The Capilla de la Caridad is a Catholic church building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, in the Ciudad Vieja on Calle Maciel between the streets 25 de Mayo and Washington.

The foundation stone was laid in 1798, the work of architect Miguel Estévez was completed in 1807. From 1859 to 1860, the architect Bernardo Poncini completed the facade. The area on which the building stands, covers an area of ​​6626 m². The twelve -meter-high, two-story chapel is part of the Hospital Maciel, inter alia, in the chapel enclosing the building of the Hospital de San José y la Caridad is housed.

Since 1975, the Capilla de la Caridad is classified as Monumento Histórico Nacional.
