Capizzone

Capizzone is a municipality in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region Lombardy with 1279 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Capizzone located 12 km north- west of the provincial capital city of Bergamo and 45 km northeast of the city of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Bedulita, Berbenno, Brembilla, Roncola, Strozza and Ubiale Clanezzo.

Attractions

  • In the historical center there is a bell tower, which dates from the twelfth century. Initially this was for defense purposes, and later was incorporated into a church complex and then destroyed at the end of the Middle Ages.
  • The parish church of San Lorenzo. The facade is decorated in neo -Gothic style. Are Inside are paintings by local artists.
  • Very interesting is also the church of Santa Maria Elisabetta, located in the district Mortesina. The church was built in the 12th century and has been recently renovated. In the 17th century it was used to bury the plague victims.
