Caponiidae

The spider family Caponiidae belongs to the genuine spiders.

Description

Nine of the 11 genera have only two eyes, these spiders are therefore called in English Two - Eyed - Spiders. The representatives of the genus Caponia have 8 eyes, Nopsida species have 4 eyes. While many other members of the Real spiders have already reduced their eyes front center early in their evolutionary development, with most Caponiidae just this pair of front middle eyes is still present and usually very large. Another unusual feature of the family is the absence of book lungs. Members of the Caponiidae each have a pair of tubes and seventh Racheen.

Behavior and lifestyles

Little is known about their prey and living habits. The ecribellaten spiders of the genera Orthonops and Tarsonops spin silken cells under rocks and stones in arid habitats, which they leave at night to hunt. Willis John Gertsch reported they were more often found in the Community tissues social spiders.
