Captiva Iceland is a tropical palm island in Lee County in southwest Florida. Originally a part of neighboring Sanibel Island, which lies to the south of it, but a hurricane created a channel. The only automobile connections to Captiva Sanibel Causeway and Sanibel- Captiva Road.
North Captiva Iceland or Upper Captiva is a separate, further north island that is privately owned.
Captiva was hit hard in August 2004 from Hurricane Charley. 160 buildings were destroyed and another 160 damaged. The storm surge cut a 365 -meter-wide path through the thinnest part of the island of North Captiva, which divided the island.
The only place on Captiva Captiva Iceland is the CDP on the South Island.
