Carbogen

Carbogen the trade name for a gas mixture of 5 volumes of carbon dioxide ( CO2) and 95 parts by volume of oxygen ( O2).

This medicine is used in medicine for respiration in humans or to induce a hyperventilation in the therapy of a carbon monoxide poisoning, used in cases of poisoning with halogenated hydrocarbons such as dichloromethane, as well as in cell culture for the treatment of tissue specimens, and cultures of microorganisms with oxygen. In magnetic resonance imaging can be used to produce a BOLD contrast.
