Carbon County (Montana)

Carbon County is a county located in the state of Montana in the United States. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Red Lodge.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 9,552 people in the county. There were 4,065 households and 2,707 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.07 % White, 0.25 % African American, 0.68 % Native American, 0.36 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 0.65 % from other races groups; 0.99% were descended from two or more races. 1.77 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 4,065 households out of which 28.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them. 56.70 % were married couples living together, 6.70 % had a female householder with no husband. 33.40 % were non-families. 28.80% of all households and 12.10% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.86.

Based on the county the population was spread out with 24.00 % under the age of 18, 5.70 % from 18 to 24, 26.10% from 25 to 44 years, 27.30 % between 45 and 64 years and 16.80% were 65 years old or older.
