Carcinophobia

A Karzinophobie ( gr φόβος Phobos " fear ", " phobia" ) refers to the morbidly exaggerated fear of their own cancer. It is counted among the hypochondriacal disorders and is in the proper sense any phobia, but a somatoform disorder.

As with other hypochondriacal disorders also, individuals are convinced to be suffering from cancer. There will be a persistent preoccupation with the disease, manifested by persistent typical physical complaints. Another model is the persistent refusal to accept the advice and the insurance of several doctors that the symptoms is no underlying physical disease.

The Karzinophobie is also Kanzerophobie or fear of cancer.
