Cargolux Airlines International S. A. is a Luxembourg cargo airline based in Sand hamlet.

History

Cargolux was founded in 1970 by the Icelandic airline Loftleiðir, the Swedish shipping Salen Shipping Company and the Luxembourg Luxair. The flight operations began with a Canadair CL -44, the first flight went to Hong Kong. In 1972 the fleet had grown to five CL -44. Due to the growing demand for faster transportation has been put into operation in 1973, the first McDonnell Douglas DC -8. In 1979 started the jumbo era at Cargolux. Destinations

Cargolux flies over 50 destinations on five continents. The Homebase all Cargolux Jets is Luxembourg. As a major hub in Asia towards the Azerbaijani capital Baku is served. Incidents

  • On 29 January 2006, on a Boeing 747 (LX - TCV), which stood on the Shanghai Pudong Airport in the park position, accidentally retracted by the ground staff the nose gear. Thus the body of the machine was damaged. No one was injured.
