Carice van Houten

Carice Anouk van Houten ( born September 5, 1976 in Leiderdorp, South Holland) is a Dutch stage and film actress. She won at the Dutch Film Festival five times the Golden Calf for her roles in the films Suzy Q ( 1999), The Mysterious Minusch (2001), Black Book (2006), De Gelukkige Huisvrouw (2010) and Black Butterflies ( 2011).

Life

Carice van Houten's parents are Margje Street and Theodore van Houten. She has a younger sister, Jelka van Houten, who is also an actress. Her parents were both professional working in television. She went to St. Boniface College in Utrecht, where he played the lead role in Hugo Claus Tijl Uilenspieghel ( German: " Till Eulenspiegel "). She then studied at the Kleinkunstacademie in Amsterdam.

Her first starring role was played by van Houten in Martin Koolhoven TV film Suzy Q. For her performance, she won a Golden Calf. This is the price she received a second time for her starring role in the film The Mysterious Minusch in 2001. In the U.S., she was for the first time in the same year in the movie Amnesia to see, in which she worked again with director Martin Koolhoven.
