Carl Boos

Carl Boos ( born September 8, 1806 Weilburg, † July 18, 1883 in Wiesbaden; Complete name: Georg Christian Carl Boos ) was a German architect and construction officer, Mr Nassau.

Life and work

Boos was born in 1806 as the son of Nassau accounting auditor Johann Andreas Boos in Weilburg. He attended the Phillipinum, a high school in his hometown. He then studied in Karlsruhe with the Grand Duke of Baden court architect Friedrich Weinbrenner. From 1826, he studied at Albert -Ludwigs- University of Freiburg statics, mechanics, chemistry, mineralogy and geology. In 1829 he joined the Faculty of Arts of the Ruprecht- Karls- University of Heidelberg.

1835 Boos was included in the Nassau Civil Service, this year he moved to Wiesbaden, where he remained until his death.

In 1837 he submitted a design for the ministry buildings in the street Luis. This was a nassauisches government building, now the Hessian Ministry of Justice is in the building, which was executed in the Neo-Renaissance style, housed.

In 1842 he was appointed by Duke Adolph to the inspector.

From 1849 to 1857 Boos led the Neo-Gothic reconstruction of the castle Schaumburg at Baldwin stone on the Lahn for Archduke Stefan of Austria.

In 1856 he was appointed to the Building Officer. During this time he created a general plan for the residence in Wiesbaden. This looked to the north ( to the Nerotal ) and the east (Villas in the east) and a loose villa development in the west and south ( see also Historical pentagon ring road ) is a closed building before.

1852 to 1862 he built the Protestant Market Church in the style of Gothic brick architecture that is ideal fits into the overall ensemble at the Palace Square in the heart of the city, regardless of their enormous volume of construction due rangy Baustrukturierung. The church was called the " Nassauische Landesdom ", which focuses on the state of competition at that time Catholic Mainz. 1859 drew boos the grave monument to the Duchess Pauline, which was built at the cemetery on the Platter Straße and restored in 2007.

1866 Nassau was annexed by Prussia, Boos was suggested retirement, two years later he went to receive the Red Eagle to retire. In 1883, he died after a long illness and was buried at the cemetery on the Platter Straße. The Karl Boos Street ( ▼ 50.0865778.229597; between Riederberg road and Platter Straße ) reminded of him.
