Carl-Dieter Spranger

Carl -Dieter Spranger ( born March 28, 1939 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( CSU).

He was from 1991 to 1993 Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and 1993-1998 Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Education and work

After graduating from high school in 1957 in Ansbach Spranger holds a degree in law and economics, which he finished in 1962 with the first legal state examination; In 1966, he was the second legal state examination. Until 1967, he was then a research assistant at the University of Erlangen -Nuremberg. In 1967, he joined as a junior barrister in the civil service. From 1968 to 1969 he worked as a prosecutor. In 1969 he was appointed county magistrate. Since 1977 he has been admitted to the bar. From 1972 to 1976 he was a town councilor in Ansbach.

Carl -Dieter Spranger is married and has three children.

Party

Since 1968 he is a member of the CSU. From 1969 to 1976 he was chairman of the CSU district association Ansbach City. In 1973 he was appointed Deputy Chairman in 1989 and finally elected chairman of the CSU Regional Chapter Middle Franconia. From 1977 he was a member of the CSU Board.

Member of Parliament

From 1972 to 2002 he was a member of the German Bundestag. Here he was from 1980 to 1982 Chairman of the Working Group Interior / Environment of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. From 1999 to 2002 Spranger was Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Carl -Dieter Spranger is always drawn as a directly elected representative of the constituency of Ansbach in the Bundestag. Most recently, he reached here in the general election in 1998 50.4 % of the primary vote.

Public offices

On October 4, 1982 Spranger was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Minister of the Interior led by Chancellor Helmut Kohl Federal Government.

After the parliamentary election in 1990, he was appointed on 18 January 1991 the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation. Since 22 January 1993, the Ministry headed by him was called Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. After the 1998 election, he resigned from the government on 26 October 1998.
