Carl G. Fisher

Carl Graham Fisher ( born January 12, 1874 in Greensburg, Indiana; † July 15, 1939 in Miami Beach, Florida) was an American entrepreneur.

Despite his strong astigmatism, he became a seemingly tireless pioneer and advocate of the vehicle and racing industry. He contributed significantly to the development and conception of the Lincoln Highway.

In the years 1920-1925 he began, Miami Beach, until then a mangrove swamp to transform into a holiday paradise. The same he tried in Montauk at the tip of Long Island (New York), to transform it into a " Miami Beach of the North". But in 1926 a hurricane destroyed everything until then, Miami Beach was built in 1932 and Fisher was bankrupt.
