Carl Hasenpflug

Carl Georg Adolph Hasenpflug ( born September 23, 1802 in Berlin, † April 13, 1858 in Halberstadt ) was a German painter.

Life

Carl Hasenpflug first learned how his father, the profession of shoemaker. However, in 1820 he was able to take an apprenticeship as a decorative painter in the workshop of Carl Wilhelm Gropius in Berlin. Here he also had contact with the operating there Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Hasenpflug then devoted himself to architecture painting and visited from time to time - with the support of Friedrich Wilhelm III. - The Berlin Academy.

From Berlin Hasenpflug first went to Leipzig. From 1830, however, lived and worked in Halberstadt. Hasenpflug was a highly sought after painter through his detailed and authentic architecture paintings. The focus of his work, which often were commissioned works, were particularly church buildings. So he painted the dome of Magdeburg, Erfurt, Halberstadt and Brandenburg an der Havel.

From 1832 to 1836 Hasenpflug processed an order in Cologne and met this Carl Friedrich Lessing. Hasenpflug received by Lessing suggestions that led him to pursue a romantic style. It emerged in the wake of many works, often wintry motifs such as ruins and chapels.

Rabbits plow was, together with Eduard Gaertner, Johann Erdmann Hummel and Johann Heinrich Hintze Germany's most important architectural painters of his time.

The city of Magdeburg named the bunnies Pflugstraße his honor. A street of the same name is also available in Halberstadt.
